History of Rushsylvania
Rushsylvania was first known as Claggstown. It was officially planned out in 1834. A post office has been open in Rushsylvania since 1836.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the village covers an area of about 0.78 square miles (2.03 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
