Russell Percival Blinco (born March 12, 1906 – died June 28, 1982) was a professional ice hockey player from Canada. He played as a centre in the National Hockey League (NHL). Blinco played for two teams: the Chicago Blackhawks and the Montreal Maroons. He helped the Maroons win the famous Stanley Cup in 1935.

Blinco's Hockey Journey
Before joining the NHL, Blinco played for other teams. He spent two seasons with the Windsor Bulldogs in the IHL. He also played one season with the Springfield Indians in the Can-Am League.
Joining the NHL
On December 18, 1932, Blinco was traded to the Montreal Maroons. This was a big step in his career. In his very first season with the Maroons, he achieved something special. He won the Calder Memorial Trophy. This award is given to the best rookie player in the NHL. Blinco earned it by scoring 23 points in 34 games.
Winning the Stanley Cup
In 1935, Blinco and the Montreal Maroons made it to the Stanley Cup Finals. They played against the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Maroons won the series by sweeping the Maple Leafs 3-0. This means they won three games in a row to become champions! Winning the Stanley Cup is one of the biggest achievements in ice hockey.
Later Career and Unique Fact
After his time with the Maroons, Blinco was traded to the Chicago Black Hawks. This happened on September 15, 1932. He was traded along with Baldy Northcott and Earl Robinson. The Black Hawks paid $30,000 for these players. Blinco is also known for something unique. He was the first NHL player to wear glasses while playing in a game. Russell Blinco passed away on June 28, 1982.
