About Ryan Peake
Ryan Peake is a very important part of the band Nickelback. He plays the rhythm guitar, keyboards, and sings backing vocals. You can hear his strong voice on Nickelback songs like "Savin' Me", "Hollywood", and "Gotta Be Somebody".
His Musical Contributions
Ryan also sings lead vocals on many cover songs when Nickelback performs live. These include songs like "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting", "Use Somebody", "I Ran", "Everlong", and "Super Bon Bon". When Nickelback plays "Hero", a solo hit by Chad Kroeger, Ryan sings the parts that were originally sung by Josey Scott.
Ryan has helped write several Nickelback songs. Some of these include "Someday", "Savin' Me", "Miss You", and "Edge of a Revolution". He often uses Gibson Flying Vs, Gibson Explorers, and Gibson Les Pauls for his electric guitar playing. For the song "Photograph", he uses an acoustic guitar that once belonged to his father.
Early Days of Nickelback
When Ryan was growing up, he really liked heavy metal bands. He enjoyed groups like Anthrax, Megadeth, and Metallica. Later, he became interested in the Canadian country rock band Blue Rodeo. He said their music made him think about how chords, melodies, and harmonies fit together.
Ryan, along with brothers Chad Kroeger and Mike Kroeger, first formed a cover band called Village Idiot. They mostly played Metallica songs in bars near their hometown of Hanna, Alberta, Canada. This group later became Nickelback. Ryan even helped the band get started by borrowing $30,000 from a local bank. In the early days, Ryan mostly played Fender Telecaster guitars.
Life Outside the Band
Ryan is married to Treana Peake. She is a fashion designer and also helps with charity work through her company, Obakki. Ryan and Treana met when they were in high school and have two children together. Ryan often shares new music he is working on with his wife, son, daughter, and brother to get their thoughts.
