Ryan Anthony Peake was born on March 1, 1973. He is a talented Canadian musician, singer, and songwriter. Ryan is most famous for being the rhythm guitarist, keyboardist, and backing vocalist for the popular Canadian rock band, Nickelback.
He has been a key member of Nickelback since the band first started. Ryan is known for his strong vocals on many Nickelback songs. These include "Savin' Me", "Hollywood", and "Gotta Be Somebody".
When Nickelback plays live, Ryan often sings lead vocals on cover songs. Some of these covers are "Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting" and "Use Somebody". He also sings "I Ran", "Everlong", and "Super Bon Bon". When the band performs "Hero", a solo hit by Chad Kroeger, Ryan sings the parts originally done by Josey Scott.
Ryan Peake has also helped write several Nickelback songs. These include "Someday", "Savin' Me", "Miss You", and "Edge of a Revolution". He plays different types of guitars, like Gibson Flying Vs and Gibson Explorers. He also uses Gibson Les Pauls. For the song "Photograph", Ryan uses an acoustic guitar that once belonged to his father.
Ryan's Musical Journey
Ryan Peake grew up listening to a lot of heavy metal. He really liked bands such as Anthrax, Megadeth, and Metallica. Later, he became interested in the Canadian country rock group Blue Rodeo. He said their music made him think about how different parts of a song fit together. This included chords, melodies, and harmonies.
How Nickelback Started
Ryan, along with brothers Chad and Mike Kroeger, first formed a cover band. They called themselves Village Idiot. This band mostly played Metallica songs. They performed in bars around their hometown of Hanna, Alberta, Canada.
Later, the group changed their name to Nickelback. Ryan played a big part in getting the band started financially. He borrowed $30,000 from a local bank. This money helped the band in their early days. When he first started, Ryan mainly played Fender Telecaster guitars.
Ryan's Family Life
Ryan is married to Treana Peake. She is a fashion designer and helps others through her charity-based fashion company, Obakki. Ryan and Treana met when they were in high school.
