Chad Robert Kroeger (born November 15, 1974) is a well-known Canadian musician. He is best known as the lead singer and guitarist for the rock band Nickelback. Besides his work with Nickelback, Chad Kroeger has also worked with many other artists. He has helped write and produce songs for films and other musicians.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Chad Robert Turton was born in Hanna, Alberta, Canada, on November 15, 1974. His grandfather, Henry Kroeger, was a politician. When Chad was two years old, his father left the family. After that, he started using his mother's family name, Kroeger. He began playing the guitar when he was 13 years old.

Starting Nickelback
In 1995, Chad Kroeger formed the band Nickelback. He started the band with his brother Mike Kroeger, Ryan Peake, and then-drummer Brandon Kroeger. Chad has been recording and touring with Nickelback for over 25 years.
Other Music Projects
In 2001, Chad Kroeger started another band called The Suits XL. The next year, he also helped create 604 Records, a record label in Vancouver. The Suits XL later released an album through this label in 2006. The band was even nominated for a Canadian Indie Award in 2007.
Working with Other Artists
Chad Kroeger has worked with many different bands and artists. He has produced music for groups like Default and Theory of a Deadman.
One of his most famous collaborations was in 2002. He sang the theme song called "Hero" for the popular movie Spider-Man. He sang this song with Saliva's singer, Josey Scott, and Pearl Jam's drummer, Matt Cameron.
Also in 2002, Chad wrote and sang on a song called "Why Don't You & I" for Santana's album Shaman. Later, in 2007, he worked with Santana again. They co-wrote and recorded a song called "Into the Night". This song was released as a single.
Chad Kroeger has also written songs for other artists. He co-wrote "No Surprise" for the band Daughtry. He also worked with Brett James to write "It's a Business Doing Pleasure with You" for Tim McGraw. In 2011, he was featured on a song called "It Won't Suck Itself" for the band Steel Panther.
In 2012, Chad Kroeger started working with French-Canadian pop rock singer Avril Lavigne. They worked together on her fifth studio album.

Chad Kroeger began dating Canadian singer Avril Lavigne on July 1, 2012. Their relationship started after they worked together on music for Avril's album. They got engaged in August 2012 and married in France on July 1, 2013. This date is also Canada Day. They later separated in September 2015.
In 2015, Nickelback had to cancel some of their tours. This was because Chad Kroeger needed surgery for a cyst on his voice box (larynx).
