Early Life and Band Beginnings
Josh Ramsay grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Music was a big part of his family life. His mother was a vocal teacher, and his father owned a recording studio. Josh loved music from a young age. He started his own solo music career when he was 14.
Later, Josh decided he wanted a band to play with him. He first tried forming a band called Ramsay Fiction with his sister, Sara Ramsay. When that didn't work out, he teamed up with his high school friend, Matt Webb. They found Ian Casselman through a newspaper ad. Ian then introduced them to his roommate, Mike Ayley. These four musicians tried many names before choosing Marianas Trench.
