He first formed a band called Ramsay Fiction with his sister, Sara Ramsay. When that didn't work out, Josh teamed up with his high school friend Matt Webb. They found Ian Casselman through a newspaper ad, and Ian introduced them to his roommate, Mike Ayley. These four friends tried many names before choosing Marianas Trench.
