Ryan Tubridy (born 28 May 1973) is a well-known Irish broadcaster. He currently hosts a weekday morning show called The Ryan Tubridy Show on Virgin Radio UK. He also has a weekend show on Sundays.

Ryan worked for RTÉ, Ireland's national broadcaster, for over 20 years. During this time, he presented many popular radio and TV shows. His most famous role was hosting The Late Late Show on RTÉ One from 2009 to 2023. He also hosted The Full Irish (2004–2009) and Tubridy (2010–2015) on RTÉ 2fm. On RTÉ Radio One, he presented The Tubridy Show (2005–2010) and The Ryan Tubridy Show (2015–2023). Ryan also hosted the Rose of Tralee festival twice and worked for BBC Radio.

He has written several books, including JFK in Ireland. Ryan was known as one of the highest-paid people at RTÉ for many years. In 2023, there was a major issue regarding how his earnings were reported. This led to RTÉ ending his contract in August 2023.

He later became a reviewer on Poporama, another show about music and books.

Ryan Tubridy's Radio Journey at RTÉ

After college, Ryan started as a "runner" at RTÉ. He made tea and coffee for The Gerry Ryan Show. He admired Gerry Ryan, who helped him early in his career. Ryan was also inspired by British broadcaster Chris Evans.

He worked as a reporter for Today with Pat Kenny. He also sometimes presented the news show Five Seven Live. In 1999, he hosted Morning Glory on RTÉ Radio 1. In 2000, he moved to The Sunday Show.

From 2002 to 2005, Ryan hosted The Full Irish on RTÉ 2fm. This morning show became very popular. It was the second most listened-to radio show in Ireland.

On 16 March 2023, Ryan announced he would leave The Late Late Show after 14 years. His last show was on 26 May 2023. Patrick Kielty was announced as the new host.

Ryan Tubridy's Work at BBC Radio

In July 2010, Ryan was offered a summer hosting job at BBC Radio 2. He turned it down to focus on The Late Late Show. However, he did host the slot for eight weeks in 2011, covering for Graham Norton.

Ryan returned to the BBC in December 2011, filling in for Ken Bruce on Radio 2. He also covered for Chris Evans on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show. In 2015, he filled in for Terry Wogan's weekend show.

Hosting The Late Late Toy Show

Ryan has often spoken about how much he loves hosting The Late Late Toy Show. He hosted it every Christmas season from 2009 to 2022. He said children often call him "the Toy Man" all year round. He described it as "one of the greatest, weirdest gifts" he has received.

In November 2022, before his last Toy Show, Ryan visited a school. He saw how excited the children were to meet "the Toy Man". They asked him questions like his age, why he visited their school, and if he liked Fanta. The Fanta question came from a funny moment on the 2020 Toy Show.

Ryan Tubridy at Virgin Radio UK

On 16 November 2023, it was announced that Ryan would join Virgin Radio UK. He started in January 2024, hosting a mid-morning show from London. This show, The Ryan Tubridy Show, airs weekdays from 10 am to 1 pm. It is also broadcast on Dublin's Q102.

He also hosts The Ryan Tubridy Show on Sundays. This weekend program airs from 10 am to 12 pm. It is broadcast on Dublin's Q102, Cork's 96FM, LMFM, and Limerick's Live 95.

Charity Work for Children and Health

Ryan Tubridy is a UNICEF ambassador. He is very interested in helping children learn to read. He also supports the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul Toy Appeal.

After The Late Late Toy Show, Ryan often auctioned off his famous jumpers for charity. His 2009 Toy Show jumper raised €1,050 for the 2010 Haiti earthquake relief. The "Elf Christmas Jumper" from 2012 raised €10,000 for the SVP.
