The Sacred Heart Church is a Catholic church found in the town of St. Aubin. This town is on the island of Jersey, which is part of the Channel Islands. Jersey is a special place. It's a 'Crown Dependency,' which means it's linked to the UK but runs many of its own affairs. It has its own laws, money system, and courts.
This church follows the Roman Catholic way of worship, also called the Latin rite. It is part of the Diocese of Portsmouth, which is based in Portsmouth, southern England, UK. The Diocese of Portsmouth was started in 1882 when Pope Leo XIII was the Pope.
Building the Church
The first stone for the church was laid in 1936. Construction work began the next year, in 1937. However, the church was not officially opened and blessed until 1947.
