Sade Baderinwa (born April 14, 1969) is an American journalist who works on television. She is well-known as a news anchor for WABC-TV in New York. Since 2003, she has helped present the news for ABC, a major TV network. Currently, she co-anchors the 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. Eyewitness News shows with Bill Ritter.

Sade Baderinwa's Early Life and School
Sade Baderinwa was born in 1969. Her father was from Nigeria, and her mother was from Germany. When Sade was seven, her mother left, and her father went back to Africa. A family friend in Baltimore then took care of her.
Later, she was adopted by Edie House, who was also a news anchor. When Sade was 12, her birth mother took her in to live with her family. Sade still keeps in touch with both her birth parents and her adoptive family.
Sade went to the University of Maryland, College Park. She studied agricultural business and resource economics. This means she learned about the business side of farming and natural resources.
Sade Baderinwa's Career in Journalism
Starting Her Journalism Journey
Sade Baderinwa began her career working behind the scenes at ABC News. She helped with shows like This Week With David Brinkley and Nightline.
After that, she became a reporter trainee at WUSA-TV in Washington, D.C.. Then, she worked as a reporter at WSLS-TV in Roanoke, Virginia.
In February 2000, Sade joined WBAL-TV in Baltimore. There, she anchored the morning and noon news. She also hosted a weekly show about community topics.
Joining WABC-TV in New York
In 2003, Sade Baderinwa moved to WABC-TV in New York City. She started as a reporter and anchor for the noon news. Soon after, she became a co-anchor for the 5 p.m. newscast with Diana Williams.
On July 23, 2004, Sade was reporting live from Hackensack, New Jersey. She was covering local flooding when a driver hit her. The driver did not stop. Sade was knocked unconscious. She had many surgeries and months of physical therapy to recover.
Sade returned to TV on December 13, 2004. She continued her physical therapy even after coming back to work. The driver who hit her was never found.
On October 27, 2006, Sade was a guest co-host on the popular talk show The View.
In May 2011, Sade became a co-anchor for the 11 p.m. newscast. She joined Bill Ritter for this late-night news show. She took over from Liz Cho, who moved to anchor the new 4 p.m. newscast.
Sade has also often led discussions at the United Nations. These events celebrate International Women's Day.
