Sagle is a small community in Bonner County, Idaho. It is not an official city but a group of homes and businesses. Sagle is about 5 miles (8 km) south of a town called Sandpoint. It has its own post office with the ZIP code 83860.

Sagle has an elementary school located on Sagle Road, near the main highway. The school's mascot is the Hawks. Recently, more businesses have opened in Sagle. This is because it is close to Sandpoint, has good road access, and has fewer rules for businesses.

Hills and Mountains

Sagle is known for its gentle, rolling hills. These hills are surrounded by much larger mountains. Most people in Sagle live in the valleys or on these lower hills. Some residents also live higher up in the mountains.

There are two main mountain ranges in Sagle. One is to the west, and the other is to the east. Both ranges run from north to south. The western range includes areas like Ott's Basin and Dufort. It stretches south towards Huckleberry and Long Mountains.

Eastern Mountain Range

The eastern mountains are taller and more noticeable. They form a long chain that goes for almost 30 miles (48 km). This chain starts at Gold Hill and goes south to Cape Horn, near Bayview, Idaho.

The only major road that crosses this eastern mountain range is Sagle Road. This road climbs steadily uphill before a steep section winds down. It leads to Lake Pend Oreille and a small resort town called Garfield Bay.

Wildlife and Plants

These mountains are home to many animals. It is common to see deer, elk, moose, and turkeys. Bears, cougars (also known as mountain lions), and even wolves are sometimes spotted here.

The area also has many types of trees. You can find western larch and ponderosa pine trees. There are also western red cedar and western hemlock trees. In addition, patches of Huckleberry plants grow all over these hills.

Education in Sagle

Most children in Sagle attend Sagle Elementary School. This school is often a central gathering place for the community. Sagle does not have its own high school. Instead, it is part of the larger Lake Pend Oreille School District.

Teenagers from Sagle go to Sandpoint Middle School for grades 7 and 8. For high school, they attend Sandpoint High School, which covers grades 9 through 12.
