Bayview is a small community in the northwest part of the United States. You can find it in Kootenai County, Idaho, just north of Coeur d'Alene. It sits right on the southwest shore of Lake Pend Oreille. Bayview is about 7 miles northeast of a town called Athol.
The community is easy to reach by State Highway 54. It also has its own post office with the ZIP code 83803. Bayview is located about 2,100 feet above sea level. Close by is Farragut State Park, which used to be a big training base for the Navy during World War II.
The U.S. Navy has a special research center in Bayview. It's called the Acoustic Research Detachment. Here, they test new designs for submarines and ships. This helps make them quieter and better.

Bayview's Past
Bayview has been around for a long time. In 1909, about 75 people lived there. By 1960, the community had grown to about 250 people.

Farragut State Park: Adventure Awaits!
About 4 miles west of Bayview, you'll find Farragut State Park. This park is built on what used to be a Navy training base. It's located at the bottom of the Coeur d'Alene Mountains.
Farragut State Park is huge, covering about 4,000 acres. It's one of Idaho's biggest state parks and touches the edge of Lake Pend Oreille. The park has a small beach where you can relax. There are also many trails for hiking that connect to Bayview. If you like disc golf, there are courses here too!
It's a great place to see wildlife. You might spot mountain goats, deer, badgers, black bears, coyotes, and even bobcats. Sometimes, you might even see an elk!
Annual Events and Water Sports
Bayview has a special yearly party called Bayview Daze. It usually happens in early July and is a fun summer celebration for everyone.
The Lake Pend Oreille Yacht Club is based in Bayview. This club helps people enjoy sailing on Lake Pend Oreille. They organize races and fun trips for sailors.
Lake Pend Oreille is a huge lake with over 200 miles of shoreline. It stretches for more than 42 miles from Bayview all the way to Sandpoint. It's a perfect place for water sports like fishing, boating, water skiing, and swimming. You can also go camping, hiking, exploring, and biking around the lake. In the fall, it's a popular spot for hunting.
The Yacht Club started in 1977 to help more people enjoy sailing. At first, many members were from Sandpoint. But as the club grew, more members came from Coeur d'Alene and Spokane. So, the club moved its main activities to Bayview. Another group, the Sandpoint Sailing Association, now works with the Yacht Club to offer many sailing chances on Lake Pend Oreille.
