Saglirjuaq (which means ᓴᒡᓕᕐᔪᐊᖅ in Inuktitut syllabics) is an island in the far north of Canada. It used to be called Liddon Island. This island is one of many islands found in the Fury and Hecla Strait. This strait is a narrow waterway in Nunavut's Qikiqtaaluk Region. Saglirjuaq is part of the northern Canadian Arctic, a very cold and icy part of the world.

Sir William Edward Parry was searching for the Northwest Passage. This was a sea route through the Arctic that would connect the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. Lieutenant Liddon was with Parry on this important journey. Their voyage took place between 1819 and 1820.
