Sagrada is a small place in Camden County, Missouri, in the United States. It is called an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes or buildings that isn't officially a town or city with its own local government. Sagrada is located in the far northwest part of Camden County, near the famous Lake of the Ozarks.

Exploring Sagrada's Past

When Sagrada Got Its Name

A post office opened in Sagrada in 1886. This post office helped people send and receive mail. It stayed open for many years until 1933. No one is quite sure where the name "Sagrada" came from. It's a bit of a mystery!

The Old Sagrada Bridge

Before the huge Lake of the Ozarks was finished in 1931, there was a special bridge near Sagrada. It was called Sagrada Bridge. This bridge was built around 1908 and crossed the Osage River. It was a "swinging bridge," which means it could move or swing.

Today, if you go to the north side of the Lake of the Ozarks, you can find a place called Sagrada Beach. This area is in Benton County. It reminds people of the old Sagrada Bridge and the community that used to be there.

Sagrada and the Lake of the Ozarks

When the Lake of the Ozarks was created, some areas along the river were covered by water. The old Sagrada Bridge had to be taken down. Some people thought that Sagrada itself was completely flooded. However, even though parts of the land near the river were covered, the main community of Sagrada was not completely washed away. It continued to exist, even after the lake was built.
