What's the Story About?
An alien ice creature named Princess Snow Kaguya comes to Earth. She wants to freeze the entire planet. But she has lost a piece of her comet, and she needs it to finish her plan. Her helpers, the Snow Dancers, search for this missing piece.
In Tokyo, a young astronomer named Kakeru Ōzora finds the comet fragment. He takes it to his observatory to study it.
Luna's Adventure
Meanwhile, the Sailor Guardians are having a fun day. Luna, the talking cat, feels sick and goes back to Usagi's house. On her way, she collapses in the road. Kakeru saves her from being hit by a car and helps her get better.
Luna starts to have special feelings for Kakeru. She even kisses him while he is sleeping! This makes Artemis, another talking cat, feel sad. Luna's feelings are not returned because Kakeru has a girlfriend named Himeko Nayotake. Himeko is an astronaut.
Kakeru believes in the old Japanese story of Princess Kaguya. Himeko does not believe in it, which causes some problems between them. Later, Himeko leaves for a space mission.
The Ice Threat
The comet fragment attaches itself to Kakeru. It slowly starts to take away his life energy, making him very sick. Princess Kaguya later steals the fragment. Because it is linked to Kakeru's life, he gets even sicker when Kaguya throws the fragment into the ocean.
This creates a huge ice crystal that keeps draining Kakeru's life energy. Princess Kaguya and her Snow Dancers then begin to freeze the Earth. The Sailor Guardians try to stop her. Kaguya brings her Snow Dancers back to life using the crystal.
The Final Battle
Just as Kaguya is about to defeat the Sailor Guardians, Sailor Moon arrives. She tries to talk Kaguya out of her evil plan. Sailor Moon needs more power, so she uses the legendary Holy Grail. This transforms her into Super Sailor Moon.
But even Super Sailor Moon is not strong enough against Snow Queen Kaguya. Determined to protect Earth, Usagi prepares to use the power of the Legendary Silver Crystal. The eight Sailor Guardians, along with Sailor Chibi Moon, combine their powers. They strengthen the Silver Crystal's healing energy.
This powerful combined attack destroys Snow Queen Kaguya and her Snow Dancers. It also gets rid of the giant ice crystal in the ocean and Kaguya's comet.
Luna's Wish
Usagi then makes a wish for Luna. She wishes for Luna to become the mythical Princess Kaguya for one night. Kakeru is worried about Himeko in the snowstorm. Luna, now in human form, saves him at the same spot where he saved her.
She takes him near the moon. Himeko, on her space mission, sees this amazing sight. She realizes that Princess Kaguya really does exist. Luna tells Kakeru to focus on his relationship with Himeko, and they share a kiss.
After returning to Earth, Kakeru follows Luna's advice. He meets Himeko at the airport, and they hug lovingly. Artemis meets up with Luna, and the two cats make up.
