Salaam Remi Gibbs (born May 14, 1972) is an American record producer. He is famous for working with artists like Nas, Amy Winehouse, and Jazmine Sullivan. He has also produced music for many other popular artists. Some of these include Alicia Keys, Fugees, Doja Cat, and Nelly Furtado. Salaam Remi is known for his unique sound. It often has a reggae feel to it.
He has been nominated for ten Grammy Awards. In 2021, he won a Grammy for Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media. This was for his work on The United States vs. Billie Holiday soundtrack.

Biography
Early Life and Career Beginnings
Salaam Remi's father, Van Gibbs, was also a studio musician. Remi first played keyboards on a record in 1986. This was for Kurtis Blow's album Kingdom Blow. In the late 1980s, Remi started mixing records. His first full production was in 1992 for the hip-hop group Zhigge. He also worked with famous groups like the Fugees and Black Sheep.
Salaam Remi has been part of many hit songs. These include "Here Comes the Hotstepper" by Ini Kamoze. He also worked on the Fugees' best-selling album The Score. He produced 10 songs for Ms. Dynamite's album A Little Deeper in 2002. This album included the popular song "Dy-Na-Mi-Tee".
Remi also worked on albums for Jurassic 5 and Nas in 2006. He produced songs for Amy Winehouse's first album, Frank. He also worked on her next album, Back to Black. He was producing her third album when she passed away in 2011. Remi also worked with Nelly Furtado on her first Spanish album, Mi Plan. In 2008, he worked with artists like Jazmine Sullivan and Leona Lewis.
Remi has also worked on movies. He helped with the music for films like Office Space and Zoolander. He also scored the Mike Tyson documentary TYSON. He was the executive music producer for After the Sunset and Rush Hour 3. In 2012, he was nominated for Producer of the Year at the 55th Grammy Awards.
Louder Than Life
In 2013, Salaam Remi started his own music label called Louder Than Life. It is part of Sony Music. He created two smaller labels under it: Re Mi Fa Music and Flying Buddha Records. The first artist to sign with his label was actor Tristan Wilds. Wilds' first album, New York: A Love Story (2013), was the first release from the label. It even made it onto the Billboard 200 music chart.
Since then, Remi has released many albums through Louder Than Life. These include BoxTalk (2019) with Joell Ortiz. He also released Northside of Linden and Westside of Slauson with Terrace Martin. In 2020, Remi released his own album called Black On Purpose. This album featured many guest artists. Some of them were Busta Rhymes, Nas, Jennifer Hudson, and Common.
