Salatyn Aziz qizi Asgarova (born December 16, 1961 – died January 9, 1991) was an Azerbaijani journalist. She is remembered as a National Hero of Azerbaijan because of her brave work. She reported from dangerous areas during the First Nagorno-Karabakh War.

Early Life and Career
Salatyn Asgarova was born in Baku, Azerbaijan, on December 16, 1961. After finishing high school, she studied at the Azerbaijan Oil and Chemistry Institute. But she loved literature and writing very much. This led her to become a journalist.
She started her career at the "Baku" newspaper. Later, she became a special reporter for Molodezh Azerbaijana (which means The Youth of Azerbaijan). Before the war began, Salatyn wrote about everyday issues in society.
Reporting During Wartime
When the First Nagorno-Karabakh War started, Salatyn often visited the front lines. She reported from very dangerous places. Her family and friends worried about her safety. They tried to convince her not to go to the war zones. But Salatyn would always say, "If nobody goes, then who will?" She believed it was important to share the truth about what was happening.
Her Final Assignment
On January 9, 1991, Salatyn, who was 29 years old, was traveling to Shusha. She was going there to write a new story for her newspaper. Her vehicle was on the highway between Lachin and Shusha. Near the village of Boyuk Galadarasi, her car was attacked.
Armenian militants shot at her vehicle with machine guns and sniper rifles. Salatyn Asgarova died instantly in the attack. Three military officers from the Soviet Army who were with her also died. They were Lieutenant-Colonel O. Larionov, Major I. Ivanov, and Sergeant I. Goyek.
Legacy and Remembrance
Salatyn Asgarova was honored for her bravery after her death. She was given the title of National Hero of Azerbaijan. A street in Baku is named after her. A ship in the Caspian Sea also carries her name.
A monument was built in her memory at Tafakkur University in Baku. Salatyn Asgarova was buried in the Martyrs' Lane in Baku. This is a special place where heroes are laid to rest.
