Salem is a city in Livingston County, Kentucky, in the United States. It is part of the larger area around Paducah. In 2020, about 722 people lived there. Salem is one of the bigger towns in Livingston County.
History of Salem
People from Salem, North Carolina, likely started Salem around the year 1800. They named their new community after their old home.
Salem became the main town, or "county seat," for Livingston County in 1809. This meant important government offices were there. However, in 1842, Smithland took over as the county seat. This happened after Crittenden County was created, which made Smithland a more central location.
