Salt is a town located in Catalonia, Spain. It is a municipality in the area called Gironès. Salt is very close to the city of Girona. It sits on the right side of the Ter River.
For a short time, from 1974 to 1984, Salt was actually part of Girona. Major roads like the A-7 motorway and the N-141 road pass through Salt.
Long ago, Salt was an important stop for a narrow-gauge railway. This railway connected Salt to Olot and other towns. It started in 1895 and was fully built by 1911. The railway closed in 1969. Today, the old railway path is a greenway, which is a path for walking and cycling.
