At the US Open in 2006, Sam won his first-round match. In 2007, he reached the third round of the 2007 Australian Open. He also set a record by hitting 10 straight aces in a match in Indianapolis. This is thought to be an Open Era record!

Winning More Titles: 2009-2010

The year 2010 was a big one for Sam. He won his first ATP 500 title at the Memphis Open. He also won the doubles title there with his partner, John Isner. This made him the first player since 1981 to win both singles and doubles at Memphis.
Sam won two more titles in 2010, one on clay in Serbia and one on grass at the Queen's Club Championships in London. This meant he won titles on three different types of courts that year! At Wimbledon in 2010, he reached the fourth round for the first time. He also successfully defended his title at the Los Angeles Open.
Injuries and Comebacks: 2011-2015
Sam faced some challenges with injuries in 2011. He had elbow surgery and missed Wimbledon and the US Open that year.

In 2017, Sam continued his success. He won two more titles, including the Mexican Open where he beat Rafael Nadal, another former world No. 1. At Wimbledon that year, he reached the semifinals after beating Andy Murray, who was then the world No. 1. This was Sam's best Grand Slam performance ever!
