He went to Fountain Valley School in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Later, he studied at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. He also served in World War II.
Samuel Goldwyn, Jr. was married two times. He had six children, including his sons Tony Goldwyn and John Goldwyn.

Samuel Goldwyn, Jr. passed away on January 9, 2015. He was 88 years old. He died in Los Angeles at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
