Anthony Howard Goldwyn (born May 20, 1960) is an American actor, singer, producer, and director. He is also known for being a political activist. He first appeared in the movie Friday the 13th Part VI: Jason Lives in 1986.
Goldwyn became well-known for his role as Carl Bruner in the fantasy movie Ghost (1990). This role earned him a nomination for an award. He also played Harold Nixon in the film Nixon (1995) and Neil Armstrong in the miniseries From the Earth to the Moon (1998).
He was the voice of the main character in the Disney animated movie Tarzan (1999). Goldwyn also appeared in The Last Samurai (2003) and the Divergent film series (2014–2015). He starred as President Fitzgerald Grant III in the TV show Scandal from 2012 to 2018. He also directed many episodes of Scandal. Since 2024, he has played District Attorney Nicholas Baxter on Law & Order.

Tony Goldwyn's Early Life
Tony Goldwyn was born in Los Angeles, California. His mother was actress Jennifer Howard, and his father was film producer Samuel Goldwyn Jr.. His grandparents were also famous in the entertainment world.
Goldwyn went to Hamilton College and Brandeis University, where he earned a degree in fine arts. He also studied acting at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.

After finishing drama school, Tony Goldwyn started acting in TV shows in the mid-1980s. His big break came when he played Carl Bruner in the movie Ghost. In this film, he played the friend who betrays Patrick Swayze's character. Ghost was a very popular movie and earned him an award nomination.
Goldwyn also appeared in the comedy series Designing Women. He played Kendall Dobbs, a young interior designer who was bravely facing a serious illness. In the HBO miniseries From the Earth to the Moon, Goldwyn played the famous astronaut Neil Armstrong.
A big role for kids was when he voiced the main character in the 1999 animated movie Tarzan. This Disney film made over $400 million! He also voiced Tarzan in the video games Disney's Tarzan Untamed and Kingdom Hearts.
Goldwyn had a repeating role on the TV show Law & Order: Criminal Intent as Frank Goren. He also acted in and directed episodes of Dexter. On stage, Goldwyn has performed in several plays in New York City. He played J. D. Sheldrake in the Broadway musical Promises, Promises.
As a director, Goldwyn has made four movies: A Walk on the Moon, Someone Like You, The Last Kiss, and Conviction. He has also directed many TV show episodes, including Without a Trace, The L Word, Dexter, Grey's Anatomy, and Scandal.
From 2012 to 2018, Goldwyn starred as President Fitzgerald Grant III in the TV drama Scandal. In 2014, he played Andrew Prior in the movie Divergent. Tony Goldwyn has been married to Jane Michelle Musky, who is a production designer, since 1987. They have two daughters together.
His brother, John Goldwyn, is a former executive at Paramount Pictures. His other brother, Peter, is also a film producer. Tony Goldwyn is very involved in supporting the arts. He is also a spokesperson for the AmeriCares Foundation, which helps people in need.
Goldwyn is an ambassador for The Innocence Project. This group works to help people who have been wrongly convicted and to improve the justice system. He also serves on the Board of Governors for the Motion Picture & Television Fund (MPTF).
