Sand Creek is a small river in the state of Minnesota, United States. It flows through two counties: Le Sueur and Scott. This creek is a tributary, which means it's a smaller river that flows into a larger one. Sand Creek eventually joins the Minnesota River.

Sand Creek is about 36.6 miles (or 58.9 kilometers) long. It starts from a lake called Lake Sanborn. This lake is located near the city of Montgomery.
Where Does it Flow?
After leaving Lake Sanborn, Sand Creek flows generally north. It passes by the town of New Prague. Finally, it reaches the Minnesota River just north of the city of Jordan.
Why is it Called Sand Creek?
The name Sand Creek comes from the natural features around the river. There are white sandstone rock formations found near the creek. These sandy rocks gave the creek its name.
