A Look at Sangagiri's Past
Long ago, during the Sangam age, Sangagiri was part of a region called Mazhanadu. It was also known as Kundrathur. The famous Sangagiri Fort was built in the 15th century by the Vijayanagar empire.
Later, brave leaders like Dheeran Chinnamalai and Tippu Sultan controlled the fort. Eventually, the British took over.
