She has written many books and articles about how land is used and how to protect historic places. For example, she wrote about how roads are designed and how different laws affect families. She also looked into how solar power can be used in buildings.
One big project she led was the Connecticut Zoning Atlas. This was the first online map showing all the rules for building in a state. She also helped the city of Houston protect its historic buildings. She has spoken to government groups about new laws, including ideas for changing building rules across Connecticut.
In 2021, Sara Bronin started a group called Desegregate Connecticut. This group brought together over 70 organizations. They worked to change building rules to create more affordable housing. Their efforts led to new laws being passed in Connecticut in 2021.
In 2023, she wrote a report for the city of Boston. This report explained why Boston needed to update its own building rules.
