Scarborough Green's Baseball Journey
Scarborough Green started his professional baseball career when he was chosen by the St. Louis Cardinals. This happened in the 10th round of the 1992 Major League Baseball draft. Being drafted means a team picks a player to join their organization.
Playing in the Major Leagues
Green made his first appearance in Major League Baseball (MLB) on August 2, 1997. He played for the St. Louis Cardinals. The MLB is the highest level of professional baseball in the United States and Canada.
After playing for the Cardinals, Green later joined the Texas Rangers. He played for the Rangers in 1999 and 2000. As an outfielder, his job was to catch batted balls and throw them back to the infield.
Life After Baseball
After his time playing professional baseball, Scarborough Green decided to try another sport. He went to Harding University to play football at the college level. This was in NCAA Division II, which is a group of colleges with strong sports programs.
College Sports Achievements
Green later moved to McMurry University in Abilene, Texas. Here, he continued to play football in NCAA Division III. He played several positions, including punter and wide receiver. A punter kicks the ball far down the field, and a wide receiver catches passes.
While at McMurry, Green also joined the track and field team. He was part of the 2007 National Champion McMurry University 4x100 relay team. This means his team was the best in the country for that running event. He also earned more All-American titles by running in the 4x400 relay.
