Schnecksville is a small community in Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. It's a place where people live, but it's not an official city or town. In 2010, about 2,935 people lived there.
Schnecksville is close to Allentown. It's part of a larger area called the Lehigh Valley. This area is home to over 860,000 people. Schnecksville has its own postal code, which is 18078.

History of Schnecksville
Schnecksville was first settled in 1756 by a person named Adam Schneck. His original log home is still around today. It was moved about half a mile from where it first stood.
Later, in 1840, Daniel Schneck planned out the community. Many of Adam Schneck's family members still live in Schnecksville. Daniel and his son Moses owned a hotel and other buildings. A man named George Rau also opened a store.
In 1846, Schnecksville got its own post office. Peter Gross was the first postmaster. By 1880, about 160 people lived in the community. It had two hotels, a store, 22 homes, a school, and a church.

Schnecksville is located in the northern part of Lehigh County. It sits in the western section of North Whitehall Township.
Roads and Travel
Pennsylvania Route 309 goes right through the middle of Schnecksville. If you head south on PA 309, you'll reach Allentown in about 7 miles. If you go northwest, PA 309 leads to Tamaqua, which is about 24 miles away.
Another road, Pennsylvania Route 873, starts in Schnecksville. It goes north through Neffs and then to Slatington, about 6 miles away.
Nature and Waterways
Schnecksville is about 660 feet above sea level. The Trexler Nature Preserve is on the southwest side of the community. This preserve is also home to the Lehigh Valley Zoo.
Water in the western part of Schnecksville flows into Jordan Creek. Water in the eastern part flows into Coplay Creek. Both of these creeks eventually join the Lehigh River. The Lehigh River then flows into the Delaware River.
Lehigh Valley Zoo
Schnecksville is proud to be home to the Lehigh Valley Zoo. This zoo covers 29 acres and is open all year round. It's a great place to see many different animals!
Schnecksville Community Fair
Every summer since 1981, Schnecksville hosts a fun country fair. It's usually held at the Schnecksville Fire Company, right on Pennsylvania Route 309. The fair is a popular event for families and visitors.
In 2020, the fair was not held. This was because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Who Lives in Schnecksville?
In 2010, there were 2,935 people living in Schnecksville. Most of the people living there were White (about 97.89%). There were also smaller groups of African American, Native American, and Asian residents. About 1.21% of the population was Hispanic or Latino.
Many families live in Schnecksville. About 43% of households had children under 18 living with them. The average age of people in Schnecksville was 40 years old.
Learning and Education
Local Schools
Students in Schnecksville attend schools in two different districts. These are the Parkland School District and the Northwestern Lehigh School District. Most high school students go to Parkland High School.
Schnecksville is also home to the Lehigh Career and Technical Institute. This school helps students learn special skills for different jobs.
Community College
Schnecksville has one of the campuses for Lehigh Carbon Community College. This college is often called LCCC. About 9,000 students attend LCCC, either full-time or part-time.
