The music was created by Steven Bernstein. This movie was one of the last times Don Messick voiced Scooby and Boo Boo. It was also the last time Casey Kasem voiced Shaggy until 2002.

Story of Scooby and Shaggy

Scooby and Shaggy arrive in Arabia on a magic carpet. They want to become royal food tasters for the young Caliph. At first, they get the job. But they eat all the food! The Caliph gets very angry and orders his guards to catch them.

Shaggy and Scooby hide. Shaggy dresses up as a harem girl to avoid being caught. The Caliph is looking for a wife. He sees Shaggy in disguise and falls in love! He decides they should get married. Shaggy tries to make the Caliph fall asleep. He tells him two classic stories.

Aliyah-Din and the Magic Lamp

This is the first story Shaggy tells. It's a new version of the famous Aladdin tale.

The Worried Sultan and the Missing Princess

The Sultan is worried because his son, the Prince, hasn't chosen a wife. The Prince has turned down many princesses. The Sultan's health is not good. He wants his son to marry soon to have an heir. Long ago, the Prince was engaged to a princess from another kingdom. But she mysteriously disappeared as a baby. This left the kingdom without an heir. The Prince was also heartbroken. The Sultan decides that all eligible women must come the next day. The Prince must choose a wife then.

However, the Prince sees a young woman by a river. She is washing clothes. He falls in love with her right away. The girl gets scared and leaves. The Prince finds only her scarf. He decides to find her in town.

Haman's Evil Plan and the Magic Lamp

The Sultan's vizier, Haman, secretly hates the Sultan and Prince. He wants to take over the throne. Haman asks a magical jewel, the Lord of the Amulet, for help. The jewel tells him that he kidnapped the princess when she was a baby! This was part of his plan to control the kingdom.

The Lord of the Amulet tells Haman about a magic lamp. It's hidden in a cave that appears only every three years. Only a person with a pure heart can enter the cave. The jewel reveals that a young woman named Aliyah-Din is the only one who can get the lamp. She is also the same woman the Prince fell in love with! The Lord of the Amulet warns Haman not to ask for his help again.

Haman finds Aliyah-Din in town. He lies to her, saying the lamp has special powers to heal the sick Sultan. Aliyah-Din, being kind, agrees to help.

Love, Duty, and a Genie's Wish

The Prince is still looking for Aliyah-Din. Many women want to marry him the next day. He learns about his father's plan. The Prince is upset. He only wants Aliyah-Din.

Aliyah-Din is late to meet Haman. She hears that the Prince will choose a bride. A woman tells her she has no chance with the Prince. Aliyah-Din and the Prince then bump into each other. Aliyah-Din falls in love with him too. But she remembers her promise to get the lamp. She has to leave the Prince.

At night, Aliyah-Din meets Haman. They see the cave open. Haman tells her to touch only the lamp. Aliyah-Din enters the cave. She picks a flower, thinking it's harmless. But it's actually treasure! The cave starts to collapse and closes, trapping her inside. Haman is furious.

Aliyah-Din is sad. She thinks she's stuck and the Prince will marry someone else. She sees writing on the lamp: "Rub Me." She rubs it, and out pop Yogi Bear, a powerful Genie, and his helper, Boo Boo, a Genie-in-training! They tell Aliyah-Din she is their new master and has three wishes.

Haman's Treachery and Aliyah-Din's Victory

Back at the Palace, Haman makes a special potion. It puts the Sultan into a deep sleep. The Prince arrives, unaware. He apologizes for not choosing a bride. He says he will marry anyone for his father's happiness. But then he sees his father's condition. Haman quickly puts the Prince under the same spell. Haman takes the unconscious Prince to the dungeons. He chains him to a wall. Then, Haman changes his appearance to look like the Prince.

Aliyah-Din goes to marry the Prince, not knowing it's Haman. Haman reveals himself and takes the lamp. This makes him Yogi and Boo Boo's new master. He throws Aliyah-Din into the dungeon. Haman uses his first two wishes to become Sultan and ruler of the universe.

Aliyah-Din escapes the dungeon. She takes the lamp from Haman. Now he can't make his third wish! Aliyah-Din gets her three wishes back. She uses her first wish to make everything normal again.

A Royal Wedding and Happy Endings

With everything back to normal, the Prince wakes up. He orders the guards to arrest Haman. The Prince reunites with Aliyah-Din and gives her scarf back. He learns her name and asks her to marry him. Aliyah-Din thinks he only loves her because of a wish. But the Prince tells her he loved her from the moment he saw her.

The Sultan wakes up and arrives. The Prince introduces Aliyah-Din. He says he wants to marry her. The Sultan says he cannot bless their marriage. He explains that the Prince can only marry a princess. Aliyah-Din rubs the lamp, and Yogi appears. Aliyah-Din wishes to become a princess again. She changes back into her royal clothes. But the Sultan still says they cannot marry.

The Prince is sad. He apologizes to Aliyah-Din. But when the Sultan hears Aliyah-Din's name, he realizes something! Aliyah-Din is the long-lost princess the Prince was engaged to! Everyone is happy. The Sultan allows them to marry. Aliyah-Din uses her last wish for a huge wedding. Yogi happily grants it. The Prince and Aliyah-Din celebrate their engagement. Boo Boo becomes a full Genie. He grants Yogi his own wish: a picnic basket!

Sinbad the Sailor

The second story Shaggy tells is about Sinbad the Sailor. Magilla Gorilla plays Sinbad. Sinbad keeps mistaking a pirate ship for a cruise ship. This is a funny running joke in the story.

The Caliph's Decision

Before Shaggy can escape, the Caliph wants to start the wedding. But when the wedding cake arrives, Shaggy eats it all! His disguise is discovered. However, the Caliph enjoyed the stories. He decides to make Shaggy and Scooby royal storytellers instead. Scooby and Shaggy are happy with their new job.
