In 2010, athletes from Scotland proudly took part in the 2010 Commonwealth Games held in Delhi, India. For these games, Scotland chose a new victory song, Flower of Scotland. This replaced Scotland the Brave, which had been used since the 1950s. The Scottish athletes themselves voted to make this exciting change!

Swimming and Diving

Scotland sent a team of 21 swimmers and 3 divers to the 2010 Commonwealth Games. They competed in many different events, showing off their skills in the water.

Swimming Highlights

Scottish swimmers earned several medals. Robert Renwick won a gold medal in the Men's 200m Freestyle. Hannah Miley also won gold in the Women's 400m Individual Medley. Michael Jamieson earned a silver medal in the Men's 200m Breaststroke. The Men's 4x200m Freestyle Relay team also won silver. David Carry took home a bronze medal in the Men's 400m Freestyle.

Diving Highlights

In diving, Grace Reid competed in the Women's 3m Springboard event, finishing in 6th place. Helen Galashan and Carol Galashan also represented Scotland in diving.

Scotland sent 3 weightlifters to the games. Peter Kirkbride won a silver medal in the Men's 94kg category, lifting impressive weights for Scotland.
