Jocelyn Rae (born 20 February 1991) is a British former tennis player. She was born in Nottingham, England. Jocelyn became a professional tennis player in 2009 and retired in 2017.

Jocelyn Rae reached a career-high doubles ranking of 67 in the world. This was set by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) on 22 February 2016. During her career, she won one singles title and 23 doubles titles on the ITF Women's Circuit.

She also won a gold medal for Scotland at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi. She achieved this in the mixed doubles event, playing with Colin Fleming. Jocelyn was coached by Karen Paterson, who was also a professional tennis player.

Jocelyn Rae's Tennis Career

Junior Tennis Years (2006–2009)

Jocelyn Rae started playing on the ITF Junior Circuit in April 2006. She continued to compete as a junior player until July 2009. During these early years, she was most successful in doubles matches.

She won one singles title in 2006 at the Egypt International Championships. She also reached one semifinal and three quarterfinals in singles events. In doubles, Jocelyn won three titles. She won two of these with Hannah James and one with Amanda Elliott. She also reached one more final and three semifinals. One of these semifinals was at the 2008 Wimbledon girls' doubles tournament. She played with Jade Curtis in that event. They lost to Polona Hercog and Jessica Moore, who later won the title.

Jocelyn finished her junior career with 21 wins and 18 losses in singles. In doubles, she had 26 wins and 14 losses. Her highest junior ranking was world No. 167, which she reached on 23 April 2007.

Professional Career Highlights (2014–2017)

In February 2014, Jocelyn Rae was chosen to join the British Fed Cup Team for the first time. This happened after another player, Laura Robson, had to withdraw due to an injury.

In July of that year, Jocelyn reached her first doubles final on the WTA Tour. This was at the Swedish Open, where she played with her partner Anna Smith.

In April 2015, Jocelyn and Anna Smith won a $50,000 tournament in Croissy-Beaubourg, France. Later in June 2015, she reached another WTA doubles final at the Nottingham Open, but they did not win that one.

Jocelyn Rae announced that she was retiring from professional tennis in December 2017.

WTA Tour Doubles Finals

Jocelyn Rae reached four doubles finals on the WTA Tour during her professional career. She was a runner-up in all four of these matches.

  • In July 2014, she played in the final of the Swedish Open with Anna Smith. They lost to Andreja Klepač and María Teresa Torró Flor.
  • In June 2015, she and Anna Smith reached the final of the Nottingham Open. They were defeated by Raquel Kops-Jones and Abigail Spears.
  • In September 2016, Jocelyn and Anna Smith played in the final of the Japan Women's Open. They lost to Shuko Aoyama and Makoto Ninomiya.
  • In June 2017, she reached the Nottingham Open final again, this time with Laura Robson. They lost to Monique Adamczak and Storm Sanders.

ITF Circuit Success

Jocelyn Rae had a successful career on the ITF Women's Circuit, winning several titles.

ITF Singles Finals

Jocelyn played in two singles finals on the ITF Circuit. She won one title and was a runner-up in the other.

  • She was a runner-up in August 2009 at the Cumberland tournament in the UK, losing to Jade Windley.
  • She won her only singles title in October 2009 at the Mytilini tournament in Greece, defeating Jade Windley.

ITF Doubles Finals

Jocelyn Rae was very successful in doubles on the ITF Circuit. She won 23 doubles titles and was a runner-up 7 times. Her wins included tournaments on hard, grass, and clay courts. She often partnered with Anna Smith and Jade Windley for many of these victories.

Representing Great Britain: Fed Cup

Jocelyn Rae proudly represented Great Britain in the Fed Cup, which is a major international team competition in women's tennis. She played in the doubles matches for her country.

She participated in the Fed Cup in 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017. Overall, she had a strong record of 10 wins and 3 losses in her Fed Cup doubles matches. She often partnered with Heather Watson and Anna Smith in these important team events.
