Scott Bradley Owen (born 14 February 1975) is an Australian musician. He is best known as the bassist for the popular punk rock and psychobilly band, The Living End.

Becoming a Musician

Scott Owen started his musical journey playing the piano for many years. However, when he wanted to play in a rockabilly band, he realized the piano wasn't the right fit. At age seventeen, he decided to learn a new instrument.

He bought a double bass and taught himself how to play it. This allowed him to play rockabilly music with his best friend and bandmate, Chris Cheney. Chris is the singer and guitarist for The Living End.

Amazing Bass Stunts

When The Living End performs live, Scott Owen is famous for his exciting "bass stunts." He often stands on his double bass during shows! Sometimes, Chris Cheney even stands on it too.

Scott also tilts the bass at a cool angle. He rests one foot on the curve of the bass, near the f-hole. His other foot goes over the front of the bass, near the bottom of the fingerboard. These stunts make their concerts very exciting to watch!

Writing Songs

Scott Owen has helped write many songs for The Living End. Some of the songs he wrote by himself include "Flood The Sky," "I Want A Day," "What Would You Do?" and "Stay Away From Me."

He also worked with Chris Cheney to write "So Lonely" and "Black Cat." Scott, Chris, and Andy Strachan (the band's drummer) wrote "Short Notice" and "E-Boogie" together.

Scott has also played his double bass for other musicians. He played for Paul Kelly on his song "Song of the Old Rake." Scott even appears in the music video for that song!

Scott Owen and The Living End have been recognized for their music. The Australasian Performing Right Association (APRA) gives out awards each year for great songs.
