Early Life and School Days
Scott Van Pelt was born in Brookeville, Maryland. He grew up near Washington, D.C.. He went to Flower Valley Elementary School and then Sherwood High School. After high school, he studied radio, television, and film at the University of Maryland. He graduated from college in 1988.
Scott Van Pelt's Career in Sports
Scott Van Pelt started his career in sports broadcasting in 1990. He worked at WTTG-TV in Washington, D.C.. From 1995 to 2000, he worked for the Golf Channel. There, he hosted many of their main shows.
Joining ESPN and Hosting Shows
In 2001, Scott joined ESPN. He became a main anchor for SportsCenter. He is also one of ESPN's top reporters for golf. He covers big tournaments like the Masters Tournament. When ESPN got the rights to show The Open Championship, Scott was part of their coverage.
Scott is also a well-known voice on ESPN Radio. He co-hosted Tirico and Van Pelt with Mike Tirico. Later, he got his own three-hour show called The Scott Van Pelt Show in 2009. In October 2012, the show was renamed SVP & Russillo, and he worked with Ryen Russillo. He also presents Friday Night College Football for ESPN.
