Sean Carl Roland Pertwee (born 4 June 1964) is an English actor, narrator, and producer. He is well-known for his many roles in movies and TV shows. Some of his famous parts include Sergeant Wells in the film Dog Soldiers and Alfred Pennyworth in the TV series Gotham. He has also lent his voice to various video games and commercials.

Early Life and Family
Sean Pertwee was born on June 4, 1964, in Hammersmith, London. His father was the famous actor Jon Pertwee. His mother was Ingeborg Rhoesa. Sean comes from a family of talented people. His grandfather, Roland Pertwee, was a playwright and screenwriter. The actor Bill Pertwee, known from Dad's Army, was also a cousin.
Sean went to Teddington Boys' School and Sunbury College in England.
Acting Career
Sean Pertwee has had a long and successful career in acting, appearing in theatre, TV, films, and even video games.
Theatre Performances
Sean started his career in theatre. He joined the Royal Shakespeare Company, a very famous theatre group, and toured with them for three years. During this time, he performed in plays like Titus Andronicus in 1987.
TV and Film Roles
Sean has been in many popular TV shows and movies. In 1992, he starred in the film Leon the Pig Farmer. He also appeared in the TV series Cadfael in 1994, playing Hugh Beringar.
In 1997, he was in the space science fiction horror film Event Horizon. The next year, he acted alongside Kurt Russell in the science fiction action film Soldier.
One of his most recognized roles was Brutus in the 1999 film Cleopatra. He also co-owned a film production company called Natural Nylon with other actors like Jude Law and Ewan McGregor.
Sean became known for his intense and serious roles, especially in the werewolf film Dog Soldiers (2002).
From 2014 to 2019, Sean played a major role in the TV series Gotham. In this show, he played Alfred Pennyworth, the loyal butler and mentor to young Bruce Wayne, who later becomes Batman. Alfred is an ex-special forces soldier who guides Bruce after his parents are murdered.
More recently, in 2024, he appeared as Detective Inspector John Flynn in the TV series Silent Witness. He also played a late-night disc jockey in the mini-series The Night Caller.
Voice Acting Work
Sean Pertwee's voice is very distinctive, and he has used it for many projects. He has narrated various television commercials and documentaries. He is also the voice behind characters in several video games.

Sean Pertwee married Jacqueline Jane "Jacqui" Hamilton-Smith, a make-up artist, on June 12, 1999. They have one child together.
Politics
In 2010, Sean Pertwee appeared in a television broadcast to support the Labour Party during the UK general election. This is a way for political parties to share their messages with the public.
