About Selargius
Selargius is a comune, which is like a municipality or a local government area in Italy. It is part of the larger Cagliari metropolitan area. This means it is connected to Cagliari and other towns around it.
A Look at History
The town of Selargius has been around since the Middle Ages. Back then, it was part of the Cagliari Campidanu region, which was a part of the Giudicato of Cagliari. A "Giudicato" was like an independent kingdom in Sardinia during the Middle Ages.
In 1928, Selargius became part of the Cagliari municipality. However, after World War II, the people of Selargius wanted their town to be independent again. They held a special vote, called a local referendum, in 1947. Because of this vote, Selargius became its own independent municipality once more.
