Selina Jen Chia-hsüan (Chinese: 任家萱; pinyin: Rén Jiāxuān; born October 31, 1981) is a famous singer, TV host, and actress from Taiwan. She is a member of the very popular Taiwanese girl group called S.H.E. In 2004, she earned a degree in Civic Education and Leadership from National Taiwan Normal University.

In 2010, Selina was seriously hurt in an accident while filming a TV show. She suffered severe burns. Her sister, Lorene Ren, is also an actress and singer.

Selina's Career Journey

Selina's journey into music began on August 8, 2000. A music company called HIM International Music held a big contest. They were looking for new artists to sign. Selina's younger sister, Lorene, wanted to join, but she was too young. So, Selina decided to enter the contest instead.

About 1,000 people competed in the contest. After many tough rounds, only seven contestants were left. These seven went on to the final "Cruel Stage" round. This is where the three members of S.H.E were chosen.

Becoming a Star with S.H.E

After the contest, the record company held auditions for the final seven. Selina won the competition! She impressed the judges early on by singing "Before I Fall in Love" by Coco Lee. She also sang "Reflection" by Christina Aguilera. Selina was very nervous during the final round. When she was announced as the winner, she was surprised. Even though she won, all three future members of S.H.E were signed by HIM International Music.

The company chose the name "Selina" for her. They said it meant "gentleness." Selina picked the spelling "Selina" because she liked being able to dot the "i."

Solo Music and Other Projects

Selina has also worked with other artists. She sang "Solo Love Song" with Tank, another singer from HIM. She also sang "You're a Song Inside My Heart" with Leehom Wang. This song was on his album Change Me.

In September 2006, Selina released a book about designing with beads. It was called Selina Loves Beading.

In January 2015, Selina released her first solo album. It was titled 3.1415.

More recently, Selina started a food business in 2021. Her company, Ren Sing Eat Shot, sells packed porridge. She also shares videos of her food and hiking adventures on her YouTube channel.

In April 2022, Selina starred in her first horror movie, The Funeral. She played a mother in the film. This was her first movie role in almost 12 years since her accident.

Selina's Personal Life

On October 22, 2010, Selina was seriously injured during filming in Shanghai. She was working on a TV series called I Have a Date with Spring. She suffered severe burns, mostly on her back and legs. She spent time recovering and was discharged from the hospital in January 2011. She held a press conference to update everyone on her condition. She also shared her plans to return to work.

Before her accident, Selina was becoming a popular TV show host.

In May 2010, Selina shared that she was dating a lawyer named Richard Chang. They got married on October 31, 2011. However, in March 2016, Selina announced on Facebook that they were planning to divorce. Their divorce was finalized in April of that year.

In March 2022, six years after her divorce, Selina confirmed she was in a new relationship. She was dating someone named Xu, who is not famous.

On March 13, 2023, Selina announced on social media that she was expecting her first child. On September 7, she shared the happy news that her son had been born.

In December 2023, Selina's team announced that her food company, Rensingeatshot, would stop operations in January 2024. They mentioned that this decision would not affect her work with other brands.
