The famous actor John Wayne used to visit the Deer Creek Ranch. This ranch is just one mile west of Selma. Today, it's known as the Deer Creek Center for Field Research and Education. John Wayne grew to love the area after he filmed his movie Rooster Cogburn along the Rogue River.
