Seven Hills is a special neighborhood located in Henderson, Nevada. It is known as a master-planned community. This means it was carefully designed and built with everything from homes to parks and roads planned out from the very beginning.

Seven Hills is about 7 miles (11 km) away from the famous Las Vegas Strip. It is also home to the Rio Secco Golf Club, a popular place for golf. You can find Seven Hills just half a mile east of the Henderson Executive Airport.

History of Seven Hills

Early Plans and Changes

The idea for a community in this area first came up in the mid-1980s. It was initially called Sky Harbor Ranch. A company from Japan, Cosmo World Corporation, was the first developer.

Over time, the community's name changed a few times. It was called Cosmo World, and then Silver Canyon. However, this first project was stopped in 1991 when Cosmo World faced financial problems.

New Developers and Growth

In 1993, two new partners, Forest City Enterprises and Canadian developer Terry Johnston, bought the land. They wanted to continue building the community.

Then, in January 1996, another company joined the team: American Nevada Corporation. Forest City remained in charge of managing the project, while American Nevada became the development manager.

By April 1996, work was already underway. They were preparing the land and talking with home-builders. Everyone expected the entire community to be finished in about six to seven years.

The Inspirada Area

In 2004, a large piece of land, about 1940 acres (785 hectares), was sold southwest of Seven Hills. This area was named 'Inspirada'. It was planned to be a "New Urbanism" community.

New Urbanism means building neighborhoods that are easy to walk around in. They are designed to feel like older towns, with homes, shops, and parks close together. This is different from "urban sprawl", where cities spread out with lots of roads and cars.

Part of the plan was to keep Seven Hills and Inspirada as separate areas. They were designed without roads connecting them directly.
