Shabnam Shakeel (born March 12, 1942 – died March 2, 2013) was a famous Pakistani poet, writer, and teacher. She spent her early life in Lahore, Pakistan. Shabnam earned a master's degree in Urdu literature.
During her career, she taught at many colleges across Pakistan. Her very first book, Tanqeedi Mazameen, came out in 1965. Shabnam Shakeel received many awards for her amazing work in Urdu literature. One of her biggest honors was the Pride of Performance award in 2005.

Her Life Story
Shabnam Shakeel was born on March 12, 1942, in Lahore, Pakistan. Her father, Syed Abid Ali Abid, was also a poet and a teacher. Because of this, Shabnam grew up in a home filled with books and famous writers. She met important people like Ghulam Mustafa Tabassum and Faiz Ahmad Faiz.
She went to Kinnaird College and later graduated from Islamia College in Lahore. Shabnam then earned her Master of Arts degree in Urdu literature. She studied at Oriental College, also in Lahore.
Becoming a Teacher
After finishing her studies, Shabnam started teaching. She became a professor of Urdu language and literature at Queen's Mary College in Lahore. For the next 30 years, she taught at different colleges. These included Lahore College for Women University and Federal Government College F-7/2 in Islamabad.
In 1967, she married Syed Shakeel Ahmad, who worked for the government. They had two sons, Waqar Hasnain Ahmad and Jehanzeb Ahmad. They also had one daughter named Malahat Awan.
Her Final Days
Shabnam Shakeel passed away on March 2, 2013, in Karachi. Her funeral prayers were held in Islamabad the next day. The Prime Minister of Pakistan at the time, Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, shared his sadness about her death. He sent his condolences to her family.
Her Books and Poems
Shabnam Shakeel's first book, Tanqeedi Mazameen, was published in 1965. This book showed her talent as a writer. She also wrote several collections of poetry.

Awards and Honors
