Shadrack Kiptoo Biwott, born in Kenya on February 15, 1985, is an amazing long-distance runner. He now represents the United States in races. He is known for his strong performances in marathons and other long-distance events.

Early Life and Moving to the U.S.
Shadrack grew up in Eldoret, a town in the Rift Valley Province of Kenya. In 2002, he moved to the United States. He attended La Cueva High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. While in high school, he showed great talent in running. On November 8, 2003, he won first place at the New Mexico State Cross Country Championships. His winning time was 15 minutes and 23 seconds.
College Running Achievements
After high school, Shadrack went to the University of Oregon. He became a very successful college athlete there. He was named an All-American multiple times, which means he was recognized as one of the best college athletes in the country.
In 2007, Shadrack was honored as the Pac-10 Athlete of the Year for cross country. This was because he won his first Pac-10 cross country title. He also helped lead the Oregon Ducks men's cross country team. They were the defending national champions in 2008. Shadrack also competed in longer track races like the 10,000 meters.
Becoming a Professional Runner
After finishing college in 2009, Shadrack continued his running career. He trained with the Oregon Track Club until 2012. In 2012, Shadrack became a citizen of the United States. He then moved to Folsom, California.
Key Races and Milestones
Shadrack had a fantastic year in 2013. He became the champion of the USATF Running Circuit. This meant he finished in the top three in five different races that year. He placed second in the USA Half Marathon Championships and the USA 20K Championships. He also earned third place in the USA 10K Championships and the USA Marathon Championships. He was second in the US National Road Racing Championships.
In 2013, he finished third in the Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon in Minnesota. His time was 2 hours, 13 minutes, and 26 seconds. In 2014, he competed in the 2014 IAAF World Half Marathon Championships. He finished 39th in that race. Later that year, he placed 14th in the Frankfurt Marathon with a time of 2 hours, 12 minutes, and 55 seconds.
Shadrack continued to compete in major marathons. In 2016, he placed 7th at the U.S. Olympic Trials Marathon in Los Angeles. He also finished 5th at the 2016 New York City Marathon. In 2017, he placed 4th at the 2017 Boston Marathon. On April 27, 2017, he joined the Hanson Brooks Project, a well-known running team.
One of his biggest achievements was placing 3rd at the 2018 Boston Marathon. He continued to run in major events, finishing 15th at the 2019 Boston Marathon.
