Geography of Shannon City
Shannon City is found in the southern part of Iowa. It is about two miles west of US Route 169, a major road. The city sits right on the border between Union and Ringgold counties. The Grand River flows near the southeast side of the community.
The United States Census Bureau says that Shannon City covers a total area of about 0.41 square miles (1.1 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
Population History
Shannon City has seen its population change over many years. Like many small towns, it was once much larger. In 1900, there were 380 people living here. The population has slowly decreased since then.
