Shaquille Harrison (born October 6, 1993) is an American professional basketball player. He currently plays for LDLC ASVEL in France, which is part of the LNB Élite league and the EuroLeague. Before playing professionally, he played college basketball for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.
Shaquille is known for his strong defense. He has won the NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year Award twice, in 2022 and 2024. He also led the G League in steals in 2024.

College Basketball Journey
Shaquille Harrison is a guard who is 6 feet 4 inches tall. He grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. He chose to play college basketball at Tulsa. He even turned down an offer to play football at the Kansas!
He was a starting player for the Tulsa Golden Hurricane for all four years he was there. In his final year, he was named the American Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year. This award recognized both his skills on the court and his good grades. He averaged 14.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game that year. He also had a grade-point average of 3.135.
Shaquille is the only player in Tulsa's history to get more than 1,300 points, 400 assists, and 200 steals in his college career. Even with these great stats, he worked hard to improve his shooting.
Starting His Professional Career
Northern Arizona Suns (2016–2018)
After college, Shaquille was not chosen in the 2016 NBA draft. However, he still got a chance to play professionally. He signed with the Phoenix Suns in September 2016. A little later, he joined the Northern Arizona Suns. This team is part of the NBA Development League, which is now called the NBA G League. He was an "affiliate player" for the Phoenix Suns.
In his first game with the Northern Arizona Suns, he scored 20 points. He continued to play well with the team.
Phoenix Suns (2018)
Shaquille's hard work paid off! On February 21, 2018, the Phoenix Suns signed him to a 10-day contract. This meant he would get to play in the NBA.
Just two days later, he played in his first NBA game. He showed off his passing and stealing skills. He signed a second 10-day contract and then a multi-year deal with the Suns. This meant he would stay with the team for longer.
On March 28, Shaquille scored a season-high 17 points. On April 10, he had his first "double-double." This means he got double-digit numbers in two different stats in one game. He scored 18 points and had 10 assists in a big win against the Dallas Mavericks.
Shaquille played for the Suns in the 2018 NBA Summer League. He was one of their best players, showing his skills in scoring, passing, rebounding, and stealing. The Suns even planned for him to have a guaranteed spot on their team for the next season. However, he was later waived by the Suns in October 2018.
Moving to Other NBA Teams
Chicago Bulls (2018–2020)
Soon after leaving the Suns, Shaquille was signed by the Chicago Bulls on October 21, 2018. He played for the Bulls for two seasons. He was waived briefly in 2019 but then signed with them again.
Utah Jazz (2020–2021)
In December 2020, Shaquille signed a contract with the Utah Jazz. He played with them for a few months before being waived in February 2021.
Denver Nuggets (2021)
Shaquille then signed a two-way contract with the Denver Nuggets in April 2021. A two-way contract allows a player to play for both an NBA team and its G League affiliate.
Delaware Blue Coats and Brooklyn Nets (2021–2022)
In September 2021, Shaquille signed with the Philadelphia 76ers. He later joined their G League team, the Delaware Blue Coats. He played very well there, averaging almost 20 points, 7 rebounds, 5.7 assists, and 2.9 steals per game.
His strong play earned him a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets in December 2021. He returned to the Blue Coats after that. In April 2022, he was named the NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year for the first time!
South Bay Lakers (2022–2023)
In October 2022, Shaquille signed with the Los Angeles Lakers but was waived a week later. He then joined the South Bay Lakers, the G League team for the Lakers. He had an amazing season, leading the entire G League in steals with 66 steals!
Portland Trail Blazers (2023)
In March 2023, Shaquille signed a 10-day contract with the Portland Trail Blazers.
Los Angeles Lakers (2023)
Shaquille returned to the Los Angeles Lakers in April 2023. He even played in eight games during the 2023 NBA playoffs.
Return to South Bay and Memphis Grizzlies (2023)
Shaquille continued to move between the G League and NBA teams. He signed with the Memphis Grizzlies in August 2023 but was waived before the season started. He then re-signed with the South Bay Lakers.
He signed another 10-day contract with the Memphis Grizzlies in November 2023. After that, he returned to South Bay. On April 4, 2024, he was named NBA G League Defensive Player of the Year again! He also led the G League in total steals for the second year in a row, with 97 steals.
LDLC ASVEL (2024–present)
On July 2, 2024, Shaquille Harrison signed with LDLC ASVEL in France. This team plays in the top French league and in the EuroLeague, a major European basketball competition.

Personal Life
Shaquille Harrison was born to Jack and Michelle Harrison. His father passed away when Shaquille was young. Shaquille has a younger brother named Monte Harrison. Monte is also a talented athlete who plays college football and professional baseball.
