History of Sharon, Kansas
Sharon was started in 1883. The name "Sharon" comes from a Hebrew word that means "plain." The city was officially made a municipal corporation in 1885.

Sharon is a small city, covering about 0.29 square miles (0.73 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no water. It is located in Barber County, Kansas.

Sharon used to have its own schools, but they closed when school districts were combined. Even so, Sharon schools had some great sports teams! The Sharon Cardinals won the Kansas State High School boys' class B basketball championship in 1935. They also won the 8-Man football championship in 1977.

- Orville Brown (1908–1981) – He was a professional wrestler and a thirteen-time world champion. He was known as the first NWA World Heavyweight Champion in 1948.
