Sharon is a small town located in the southwestern part of York County, South Carolina, in the United States. In 2010, about 494 people lived there. By 2020, the population was 462.

History of Sharon
Sharon has some interesting historical places. Three important sites are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are recognized for their special history. These places are the Hill Complex Historic District, the W.L. Hill Store, and the Sharon Downtown Historic District.

Interesting Facts About Sharon
Sharon is home to the tallest building in the southwestern part of York County. This building used to be called Hill's Mercantile. It was built with bricks made right there in Sharon around the late 1800s and early 1900s.
Sharon also had the First National Bank of Sharon, which started in 1889. From 1910 to 1929, the U.S. government even printed special money for this bank. It was the only bank in Western York County that managed to stay open during the Great Depression. When it joined with the First Citizens Bank and Trust of South Carolina in 1986, it was the oldest bank in York County that had been running continuously. The unique design of the bank building helped it get listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.
