Sharrod Neasman's NFL Journey
Sharrod Neasman had an exciting career playing for several teams in the National Football League (NFL). He started with the Atlanta Falcons and later played for the New Orleans Saints, New York Jets, and Los Angeles Rams.
Starting with the Atlanta Falcons
Sharrod Neasman first joined the Atlanta Falcons on May 5, 2016. He was an undrafted free agent, which means he wasn't chosen in the NFL draft. Even though he was released by the team briefly, he quickly rejoined their practice squad. A practice squad is a group of players who train with the team but don't play in games unless they are moved to the main roster.
Later, on October 18, 2016, Sharrod was moved to the Falcons' active roster. This meant he could now play in official games.
Reaching the Super Bowl
In his first year, Sharrod and the Falcons made it all the way to Super Bowl LI in 2017. They played against the New England Patriots. It was a very close game, but the Falcons lost in overtime.
In 2017, Sharrod played in 11 games for the Falcons. He made two tackles, which are plays where a player stops an opponent.
Playing for Other Teams
After his first time with the Falcons, Sharrod moved to other teams.
New Orleans Saints
On May 31, 2018, Sharrod signed with the New Orleans Saints. However, he was released by the Saints before the regular season started.
Returning to the Falcons
Sharrod rejoined the Atlanta Falcons on September 25, 2018. In this second time with the team, he played in 12 games. He made 44 tackles and defended four passes. A "pass defensed" means he stopped the ball from reaching the intended receiver.
He signed with the Falcons again on March 20, 2020. In a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Sharrod recorded his first career sack. A sack happens when a defensive player tackles the opposing team's quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. He sacked famous quarterback Tom Brady in that game.
New York Jets and Los Angeles Rams
In 2021, Sharrod signed with the New York Jets. He was placed on injured reserve for a short time, which means he couldn't play due to an injury. He was activated later but was released before the season ended.
On January 12, 2022, Sharrod joined the Los Angeles Rams practice squad. That year, the Rams made it to Super Bowl LVI. Sharrod Neasman was part of the team that won the Super Bowl when the Rams defeated the Cincinnati Bengals. This was a big achievement in his career!
