Shaughnessy is a small community known as a hamlet in southern Alberta, Canada. A hamlet is like a very small village. It is located on Highway 25, about 17 kilometers (11 miles) north of the city of Lethbridge. The community was named after Baron Shaughnessy, who was in charge of the mining company that operated in the area a long time ago.
