Shedeur Deion Sanders (/ʃəˈdʊər/ SHƏD-oor; born February 7, 2002) is an American football quarterback for the Colorado Buffaloes. He began his college football career with the Jackson State Tigers. There, he won the Jerry Rice Award and Deacon Jones Trophy. Later, he transferred to Colorado. In 2024, he won the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award. Shedeur is the youngest son of famous Pro Football Hall of Fame member and coach Deion Sanders.

Shedeur's Early Life
Shedeur Sanders was born in Tyler, Texas, on February 7, 2002. His parents are Deion and Pilar Sanders. He has four brothers and sisters: Deiondra, Deion, Shilo, and Shelomi.
He went to Trinity Christian School in Cedar Hill, Texas. His father, Deion Sanders, was the coach for the offense there. In his final year of high school, Shedeur threw for 3,702 yards. He also completed 43 touchdowns. Shedeur was considered a top player. He first planned to play for Florida Atlantic. But he changed his mind and chose Jackson State. This happened after his father became the head coach there.
College Football Career
Playing for Jackson State
Shedeur joined Jackson State in January 2021. He could not play in the spring 2021 season. This season was shorter because of COVID-19. Shedeur became the starting quarterback for the Tigers in the fall 2021 season. He threw for 3,231 yards and 30 touchdowns.
He was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Freshman of the Year. He also made the second team All-SWAC. Shedeur won the Jerry Rice Award as the best freshman in the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision. He was the first player from a historically black college or university (HBCU) to win this award.
In his second year, Shedeur had a great start. He completed 29 of 33 passes for 323 yards. He also threw five touchdowns in a big win against Florida A&M. As a sophomore, he completed 70.6% of his passes. He threw for 3,732 yards and 40 touchdowns. He was named the SWAC Offensive Player of the Year. Shedeur also won the Deacon Jones Trophy. This award goes to the best player from an HBCU. After the 2022 season, he decided to look for a new team.
Playing for Colorado
Shedeur transferred to Colorado after his father, Deion, became the head coach there. He was immediately named the starting quarterback for the Buffaloes.
In his first game for Colorado, Shedeur set a school record. He threw for 510 yards and four touchdowns. This helped his team win against TCU. In the next game, he threw for 393 yards and two touchdowns. He also scored a rushing touchdown in a win against Nebraska. He led the Buffaloes to a 3–0 start. He threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns in a win over Colorado State.
After a loss to Oregon, he played well against USC. He threw for 371 yards and four touchdowns. He also had a rushing touchdown. Later, he threw for 400 yards and five touchdowns in a game against Stanford. He missed the last game of the season due to a back injury. In 2023, he finished with 3,230 passing yards. He had 27 passing touchdowns and four rushing touchdowns in 11 games. The Buffaloes finished the season with four wins and eight losses.
To start the 2024 season, Shedeur threw for 445 yards. He had four touchdowns in a win against North Dakota State.

Shedeur's Personal Life
Shedeur's older brother, Shilo, also plays football for the Colorado Buffaloes. He is a defensive back.
Shedeur has signed deals with big companies. These are called name, image, and likeness (NIL) deals. He has deals with Gatorade, Beats by Dre, and Nike. He was the first college football player to sign with Nike. In May 2024, Shedeur also released a song called "Perfect Timing."
