Sheikh Haikel bin Sheikh Salim Bajrai (born 10 October 1975) is a famous Singaporean rapper, actor, and radio personality. He won the talent competition Asia Bagus in 1991. Sheikh Haikel has worked in many areas like radio, TV, movies, and stage shows. He has released three studio albums and many single songs. Today, he runs a music school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. At his school, students can learn different types of music, including hip hop, classical, and rock.

Early Life and School

Sheikh Haikel went to Saint Patrick's School in Singapore. He later earned a degree in Performing Arts and Psychology from the Queensland University of Technology in Australia.

Acting Roles

Sheikh Haikel first appeared in the well-known Singaporean movie, Army Daze. He played the role of Johari Salleh. This movie was also turned into a play in 2006, and Sheikh Haikel played the same character again.

His next movie role was as Jeff in the film City Sharks in 2003. This movie was made by both Singapore and Malaysia. He also acted alongside Nicholas Lee and Hans Isaac in this film.

Sheikh Haikel has been in many TV comedy shows, like 3 Rooms and The Donnie Lee Show. He also appeared several times on the popular Singaporean comedy show, Under One Roof. He has also hosted sports shows like ESPN's Football Crazy. He was also the host of Okto's Knockout.

Radio Work

Sheikh Haikel used to be a DJ for the local radio station 98.7FM. In 2008, he was also a host on the Breakfast Show for 91.3FM.

Music Journey

Sheikh Haikel's music style is mostly rap. He became interested in rap music when he was nine years old. This happened when his mother accidentally bought him a Run DMC music tape. She thought it was a tape by The Pips.

In 1991, Sheikh Haikel won the Asia Bagus Grand Championship. He was part of a rap group called Construction Sight. This group is known as "Singapore's first ever rap group."

His first two solo albums were For Sure and For Sure Too. With these albums, he won the Best Local English Song award at the Compass Awards in 2002 and 2004. He won for his popular song, Witulah. His third album, 10.10.10, was released on his 35th birthday, which was 10 October 2010. He also performed several songs at the President's Star Charity event in 2012.

Business Ventures

In February 2017, Sheikh Haikel and his wife, Anna Belle Francis, along with friends and the Singaporean DJ duo The Muttons, started a restaurant. It is called FatPapas Burgers and Shakes. This restaurant is a halal version of another popular burger place called Fatboys The Burger Bar.

In July 2024, Sheikh Haikel, his wife Anna Belle Francis, and five business partners opened a new restaurant. It is a 50-seater 'Hai Ge Ji Hainanese chicken rice' restaurant located in Bugis. He also co-owns Wakuwaku Yakiniku, which is a halal yakiniku restaurant.

Personal Life

Sheikh Haikel is a Singaporean with mixed Malay and Yemeni family background. He has one sister. He married Singaporean actress Anna Belle Francis in 2002. They have three children: Triqka (born 2004), Abbra (born 2003), and Sheikh Juz (born 2014).
