Shin Ki-ha (Hangul: 신기하; Hanja: 辛基夏; RR: Sin Gi-ha; MR: Sin Ki-ha) was an important South Korean politician. He was born on April 27, 1941, and passed away on August 6, 1997. Mr. Shin served as a lawmaker for four terms, which means he was elected to the country's main law-making body four times. He was also a leader in a political group called the National Congress for New Politics.

His Early Life and Education

Shin Ki-ha was born in April 1941 in a place called Hamupyon-gun. At that time, it was part of Korea under Japanese rule. Today, this area is known as Hampyeong County in South Jeolla Province, South Korea. For his education, he attended Chonnam National University.

His Work as a Politician

Shin Ki-ha dedicated his life to public service. As a politician, he worked to represent the people of South Korea. He was a member of the National Assembly, which is like the parliament or congress in other countries. In this role, he helped make laws and decisions for the country. He was also a leader for his political party, the National Congress for New Politics. This meant he helped guide the party's goals and actions.

A Sad Event

On August 5, 1997, Shin Ki-ha, his wife, and about 20 to 24 members of his political party were traveling. They boarded Korean Air Flight 801 from Seoul, South Korea, heading to Guam. The next day, August 6, 1997, the aircraft was trying to land at Antonio B. Won Pat International Airport. Sadly, the plane crashed. Shin Ki-ha, his wife, and many members of his political party died in this tragic accident.
