Shree Bose (born March 27, 1994) is an American scientist, inventor, and speaker. She is famous for winning the very first Google Science Fair in 2011. She recently earned two advanced degrees (an MD and a PhD) from Duke University School of Medicine in 2023. Now, she is part of a special program for doctor-scientists at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Shree went to Fort Worth Country Day School for high school and later studied at Harvard College. In 2014, she helped start a company called Piper. This company makes fun engineering kits for kids.

Her Amazing Work
Winning the Google Science Fair
In 2011, when Shree Bose was 17 years old, she won the top prize at the Google Science Fair. She received $50,000 for her amazing research. Shree studied a medicine called cisplatin, which is used to treat ovarian cancer. She wanted to find out why cancer cells sometimes stop responding to this medicine.
Shree's grandfather passed away from lung cancer. This sad event inspired her to work on cancer research. She did her project with help from Dr. Alakananda Basu.
After winning, Shree gave a talk at TEDxWomen 2011. She spoke with the other two winners, Lauren Hodge and Naomi Shah. They shared their science projects and talked about their journeys in science.
An asteroid, a small rocky body in space, was even named after her! It's called 25178 Shreebose.
Starting Piper Company
In 2014, Shree helped create a company called Piper. This company focuses on STEM education. Piper makes computer engineering kits that teach kids about engineering. They do this by using the popular game Minecraft.
The company got some of its starting money from Kickstarter. After finishing her college studies, Shree left Piper to focus on becoming a doctor.
Other Cool Projects
Shree has been involved in many other interesting projects. In 2014, she spoke on a panel with important people like Bill Clinton. They talked about how more and more people can share their ideas and start their own projects.
In 2018, Microsoft featured her in an advertisement for Windows 10. This showed how important her work is.
In 2023, Shree was named one of Forbes 30 Under 30 in the Science category. This list highlights 30 successful people under 30 years old.
In January 2024, Duke University celebrated its 100th birthday. Shree was featured as part of their special celebration.
Her Education Journey
Shree went to Fort Worth Country Day School for high school and finished in 2012. Then, she attended Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She was even chosen as one of the "15 Most Interesting Seniors" by The Harvard Crimson newspaper.
She earned her first degree, a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Molecular and Cellular Biology, in May 2016. Later, she earned two advanced degrees, an MD (Medical Doctor) and a PhD (Doctor of Philosophy), from Duke University School of Medicine in 2023. She is now continuing her training at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
