Sigfried "Siggi" Held (born on August 7, 1942) is a famous German former football player and coach. He was known for playing as an attacking midfielder or a forward. Siggi Held had a long career in football, both on the field and later as a manager for many teams around the world. He even played in the FIFA World Cup final!

Siggi Held's Football Journey
Starting as a Player
Siggi Held was born in a place called Freudenthal, which is now part of the Czech Republic. He started his football career at a club called Kickers Offenbach. In 1965, he joined Borussia Dortmund and began playing in the Bundesliga, which is Germany's top football league.
Over his career, Siggi played 442 games in the Bundesliga. He scored 72 goals for teams like Borussia Dortmund, Kickers Offenbach, and Bayer 05 Uerdingen. He was a key player for these clubs.
Playing for His Country
Siggi Held also played for the West Germany national team. He played 41 games for his country. One of his biggest achievements was playing in the final match of the 1966 FIFA World Cup in England. West Germany finished as runners-up in that tournament. He also helped his team get third place in the 1970 FIFA World Cup in Mexico.
Becoming a Coach
After he stopped playing professional football in 1981, Siggi Held became a football coach. He managed many different teams, both club teams and national teams.
- From 1982 to 1983, he coached FC Schalke 04 in Germany.
- He then coached the national team of Iceland from 1986 to 1989.
- He also managed Galatasaray in Turkey (1989–1990) and Admira Wacker Wien in Austria (1991–1993).
- Later, he coached Dynamo Dresden (1993–1995) and Gamba Osaka in Japan (1995).
- From 1996 to 1998, he was the coach for VfB Leipzig.
Siggi Held continued coaching national teams. He managed the Malta national team from 2001 to 2003. In 2004, he took over the Thailand national team, but his time there was short.

As of 2009, Siggi Held works for his former club, Borussia Dortmund. He is a fan relations supervisor, which means he helps connect the club with its supporters.
