SimPark is a fun video game from 1996 made by Maxis. In this game, your main goal is to create and take care of a successful park. It's a bit like another game called SimTown, and it's made especially for kids and younger players. SimPark helps you learn how important it is to keep nature balanced, just like a real ecosystem. You could think of it as a simpler version of the game SimIsle.

Welcome to SimPark!
SimPark is a simple game designed for younger players. You don't have to worry about losing the game. You won't get fired or run out of money. This lets you focus on learning and having fun.
How to Play SimPark
In SimPark, you quickly learn how your actions affect the park. For example, if you don't plant certain flower types, your park won't attract bees. If there are no bees, then pollination can't happen. Pollination is super important for keeping your park's plants growing and healthy.
Managing Plants and Animals
Besides managing the plant and animal populations, you also need to identify them. The game challenges you to learn about the different species in your park. This helps you understand how everything fits together in nature.
Messages and Advice
Players often get messages in the game. Sometimes your boss will email you, asking you to make the park more diverse. Other times, your virtual mom might send a message about life at home. Occasionally, the boss's pet frog, Rizzo, will pop up on your screen. Rizzo gives you advice or sometimes complains about how you're handling things.
Park Challenges and Disasters
Your park can face some unexpected challenges. These events make the game more exciting and test your park management skills.
- Garbage Dump: A big pile of trash can appear in your park. Soon, rats will start to come out of it. To get rid of the garbage, you can put water on it. You can also place many garbage-eating animals, like rats and black bears, near the dump.
- Fire: Fires can break out in your park. You'll need to act fast to put them out.
- Kudzu: Kudzu plants are fast-growing vines. They can quickly take over your park if you don't control them.
- Alien Invasion: Flat, pink-and-blue creatures might appear. They litter the park grounds and sometimes float on the water. If you zoom out on the map, these aliens might form letters. One example is a message that says: "Surrender, Dorothy." This is a funny reference to the movie The Wizard of Oz. The only way to remove these aliens is to use the "Bulldozer" tool.
Listening to Park Visitors
The game has a cool feature where you can use a microphone. This lets you click on people visiting your park and hear what they say. Some memorable quotes include, "My socks don't match," and "My favourite book is Wind in the Willows."
Time and Seasons
About four minutes of real time equals one year in the game. The game shows the changing seasons. You'll see the leaves on the trees change color, just like in real life.
