Simone Barone (born on April 30, 1978) is a famous Italian football manager and former player. He played as a midfielder, which is a player who helps both attack and defense.
Simone Barone played for many different Italian clubs during his career. He became well-known while playing for Palermo. He was also a part of the Italian team that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He played for his country 16 times between 2004 and 2006, scoring one goal.

Playing for Clubs: Simone Barone's Journey
Simone Barone started his professional football career at Parma. His first game was on May 4, 1997, against Atalanta.
Early Career and Loans
After playing for Parma, he went on loan to other teams. In 1998, he played for Padova in Serie C1. The next year, in 1999, he played for Alzano Virescit in Serie B.
Time at Chievo and Return to Parma
In the summer of 2000, Simone joined Chievo. He played there for two seasons. Later, in the 2002–03 season, he was loaned back to Parma. He then officially rejoined Parma in 2003.
Success with Palermo
On July 16, 2004, Simone Barone moved to Palermo. He signed a four-year contract with the club. He became a very important player for Palermo. His strong play helped the team qualify for the 2006–07 UEFA Cup, which is a big European competition.
Moving to Torino and Cagliari
In August 2006, Simone joined Torino. He played three seasons for Torino. After Torino was moved down to a lower league in 2009, he left the club. On August 6, 2009, he signed with Cagliari. He mostly came on as a substitute for Cagliari.
Playing for Italy: The National Team
Simone Barone first played for the Italy national football team on February 18, 2004. This was a friendly match against the Czech Republic.
World Cup Winner in 2006
He was chosen to be part of Italy's team for the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany. Italy went on to win the entire tournament! Simone played in two matches during the World Cup as a substitute.
In one famous moment during a group match against the Czech Republic, Simone Barone made a long run to support a teammate, Filippo Inzaghi. Even though Inzaghi scored the goal without passing to Barone, this run showed Barone's dedication. In Italy, people sometimes jokingly say "as useful as Barone's run" to describe something that is not needed, but it really highlights his effort!
He also played in Italy's quarter-final match against Ukraine. In total, Simone Barone played 16 games for Italy between 2004 and 2006. He scored his only goal for the national team on February 9, 2005. This was in a friendly match against Russia.

Simone Barone was a very flexible and hard-working player. He could play in many different midfield positions. He was often a central midfielder or a right-sided midfielder. He could also play as a defensive midfielder.

In June 2016, he became an assistant manager for Indian Super League club Delhi Dynamos. He worked under his former teammate, Gianluca Zambrotta.
For the 2017–18 season, he became a manager for the Juventus youth academy. After that, he took charge of the Sassuolo youth team from 2018 to 2021.
Head Coach Role
On July 7, 2021, Simone Barone was hired as the head coach for Correggese. This team plays in Serie D, a lower Italian league. However, he left the club before the league season officially began.
