Simone Barone (born April 30, 1978) is an Italian football manager and former player. He played as a midfielder for many Italian clubs. He became well-known while playing for Palermo. Simone Barone was a key part of the Italian team that won the 2006 FIFA World Cup. He played for his country 16 times between 2004 and 2006, scoring one goal. He also received a special honor called "Ufficiale OMRI" for his achievements.

Simone Barone's Club Career
Simone Barone started his football journey with Parma. He made his first team debut on May 4, 1997. After Parma, he played for other teams like Padova and Alzano Virescit.
Playing for Chievo and Parma
In 2000, Barone joined Chievo. He played there for two seasons. Later, he returned to Parma, first on loan, then permanently in 2003.
Time at Palermo and Torino
On July 16, 2004, Barone moved to Palermo. He quickly became a regular player for the team. Palermo even qualified for the 2006–07 UEFA Cup, a big European competition.
In 2006, Simone joined Torino. He played three seasons for them. He left the club in 2009 when they were moved down to a lower league.
